Recent changes to the KiwiSaver HomeStart grant eligibility criteria for the Queenstown Lakes District

The Government has announced a change to the KiwiSaver HomeStart grant house price cap for Queenstown Lakes District, which come into effect from 17 September 2018.

The change will see an increase to the house price cap for existing/older properties to $600,000 and to $650,000 for new properties.

What does this mean for existing pre-approval?

Any existing pre-approved KiwiSaver HomeStart grants will remain valid until the pre-approval expiry date. From Monday 17th September, these clients are able to consider purchasing a home within the new house price caps.

However, once the pre-approval has expired and if a property hasn’t been purchased, a new pre-approval application will be required
