Senior Associate
Tanya is an experienced member of the litigation team. Her primary areas of practice are alcohol licensing and criminal law. She also has experience in local government law, general civil litigation and charities law.
Tanya represents clients in the hospitality industry offering expertise, gained from her many years as a council licensing inspector to licensees requiring specialist advice and representation. Tanya’s experience makes her uniquely placed to help clients achieve their objectives. She has appeared in numerous licensing hearings at all levels and aims to provide pragmatic solutions for clients.
Tanya regularly appears in the criminal list in the Queenstown District Court dealing with a range of issues such as assaults, minor drug offences, driving offences, limited licences and sentencing. Tanya is a registered duty solicitor and an accredited PAL1 provider of legal aid.
Tanya has a strong involvement in the community and for ten years was the chair of the Wakatipu Youth Trust, a non-profit organisation providing advocacy and support services for young people in the district. Tanya remains involved as a trustee.
Tanya has a passion for the arts. She is a member of the management board of the New Zealand Federation of Film Societies. Tanya is a trustee of Queenstown Jazzfest and on the committees of the Queenstown Film Society, the Queenstown Writers Festival and arts lobby group, Creative Queenstown.
