Harriet joined the firm in 2018 after working in Auckland on high-value commercial litigation disputes. Harriet also brought with her expertise in relationship and family law, and her relationship property practice has grown significantly over the last few years.
Harriet advises clients who are entering into a new relationship or exiting an existing relationship on their financial affairs. She is able to provide specialist advice on all financial issues including protection of assets, division of property, valuation of assets, whether trust assets may be divided or distributed and spousal maintenance.
Harriet regularly appears in Court as both sole and junior counsel, and is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution options.
Harriet has an empathetic approach and will remain focussed on a resolution that secures what you are legally entitled to. On more complex matters, Harriet works with a team of accountants and valuers to ensure all your financial issues are resolved efficiently.
Harriet lives on a High Country Merino Sheep Farm near Alexandra and is able to visit clients at their farms or orchards in the wider Otago region. She understands the joys and challenges of living rurally and the specific legal issues that apply to protection and division of property in this context.
Harriet also has governance experience and currently sits on the executive of the Presbyterian Church Property Trustees.
Outside of work, Harriet enjoys spending time her golden retriever and in the garden, preferably in the afternoon sun, seated, with a glass of Central Otago Pinot.
